Correspondence, 1933-1986.

This series, formerly labelled "general correspondence and citizen mail," consists of letters from private individuals and from county and local officials requesting legal advice, interpretations of the laws, or other advice or assistance. They were usually answered by an assistant attorney general. Since the attorney general's office was prohibited by law from rendering legal advice to private citizens, it referred them to a county or private attorney when necessary, or sometimes sent an opinion issued previously for a similar circumstances.
